At Mukupati, we celebrate International Women's Day one day earlier than most because it coincides with my mother's birthday. This year, it feels particularly important to me to recognize this special alignment and to honor the profound influence my mother has had on both the woman I am today and the brand we've created together.
My mother comes from a small town in the Venezuelan Andes. Despite facing numerous challenges, she possesses a heart overflowing with generosity and a remarkable resilience. Her upbringing, though undoubtedly tough, was also a wellspring of invaluable lessons. She had an extraordinary ability to find beauty, goodness, and wisdom in every experience, shaping the way I perceive the world around me.
The teachings passed down through generations of wise indigenous women, including my own mother, hold a timeless wisdom that transcends politics. These women understood the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of preserving our environment and communities. They recognized that isolation leads to decay, while fostering connections cultivates vitality and strength.
